@7eleven experimented with the buzz of “free” products by extending its “Free Slurpee Day” on 7/11 to a whole week of freebies. The strategy is to give out freebies in order to generate good will and entice consumers to buy something in return, as well as to get consumers to crave for more of the product. “Free Slurpee Day” has historically drastically increased Slurpee sales (38% increase in 2010). - Link
