According to the National Retail Federation (NRF), Black Friday and Total Thanksgiving weekend spending decreased (11% to $50.9B) compared to last year, and there were 6 mill. fewer shoppers than expected. This contradicts analyst predictions that this season would be the biggest holiday shopping season of all time. The NRF believes that stores, such as @Walmart, starting promotions early in the week to edge competition might have be the reason why. Walmart increased its shipping options and the number of items available online from 1 to 7 mill. resulting in record online sales for Thanksgiving. - Link
